A Road I Can’t follow
By: Geronimo
Heavenly destined so it then seemed
When I and he joined beyond break
Though not of blood, we were true brothers
We were one body, one mind and heart
Oh, do you remember, dear fond stories
Of then crimson skies in our playful sleep
Memories of paradise, all put past
Together still in a child’s happy dream
Age brought reason, though oft mistaken
Headlong did they rush towards ruin
To what they thought was their fulfillment
Our hands parted as you flowed the current
Where, oh where had you gone, so sudden
As I grasped the air, searching for what’s lost
I was still among the field of flowers
As though blind to the blossoms around
Yet I still held on to our dream
You tried as well to let it be so
But even I grew to see reason
As your mother calls out to the night
I saw you less and less intimately
The day shone on the face of an angel
Yet the moon would show the hunter’s eyes
I oft miss you as you set with the sun
What I thought strong became fine as thread
Yet you keep the dream of our paradise
A paradise lost to the wonders of night
I knew for some time, you chose wrong
I’ve laid down the list of what is wrong
Try as you might, I can’t go along
Because you tread a road I can’t follow
